How the texts were gathered and set in order, and how the scholars weighed the reports. We add no judgement of our own.
The sources speak in their Arabic; the English translation under each text is still to be written.
How this app is set in order
The book you read in
Each event reads from Ibn Hisham first, and you may choose another book. At each paragraph are the books that tell the same report in its words or close to them, and what other books add under each heading, on request. One report is known by its shared words; we do not judge between the books.
The timeline
Makkah takes two fifths of the timeline and Madinah three, as Madinah holds more events. The lanes for rulings and Companions are points dated by the books’ own words, each with its text and page; a disputed date is hatched.
The map
The land is drawn from its real heights (NASA’s open SRTM data), with no modern building or road, and each place at its Wikidata coordinate. The small globe shows where the map is in the world and the country the place is in today, from Natural Earth’s open borders.
His qualities
The topics follow the order of al-Qadi Iyad’s al-Shifa; each holds the sections the scholars wrote on it under their own headings, in the order the authors died.
